Oostender Book of Hours
The Clemens-Sels-Museum Neuss presented a selection of sheets from the portfolio "Oostender Stundenbuch" by the Düsseldorf artist Bert Gerresheim. The total of 66 pencil drawings are based on an intensive study of the great Belgian symbolist James Ensor.
Bert Gerresheim presented the sheets of his "Oostender Stundenbuch" for the first time in an artist talk on November 17, 2011 at 1 p.m. with museum director Dr. Uta Husmeier-Schirlitz and revealed his central sources of inspiration to the audience. Complementing the exhibition, selected prints by James Ensor from the museum's holdings and a private collection were presented.
