Our food culture is characterized by many delicacies that originate in completely different countries, because when people move to other places, they naturally take their recipes for food and drink with them. Today, we're going on a delicious search for clues and looking into the cooking pots of Stone Age people, Romans and many others on their journey to the Lower Rhine ... After a short journey of discovery through the history of food, we'll make food collages of the highest order.

Wir freuen uns, die Mitglieder des Museumsvereins zur diesjährigen Jahreshauptversammlung begrüßen zu dürfen. Bringen Sie sich auf den neusten Stand und erfahren Sie schon vorab von kommenden Ausstellungen.

Im Jahr 1984 begann Dr. Gisela Götte, gebürtige Berlinerin, ihre Tätigkeit im Clemens Sels Museum Neuss. Die ehemalige Direktorin Irmgard Feldhaus hatte Frau Dr. Götte von der Kunsthalle Bremen ins Rheinland geholt. Im neu erschienen filmischen Porträt über Frau Dr. Götte bezeichnet Hans-Heinrich Grosse-Brockhoff diese Personalentscheidung als goldrichtig. Neben dem ehemaligen Kulturdezernenten und Stadtdirektor kommen unter anderem Dr. Christiane Zangs, frühere Museumsdirektorin und spätere Kulturdezernentin, sowie Hartmut Rohmer, langjähriger Vorsitzender des Kulturausschusses zu Wort. Die ehemalige Museumsleiterin hat in ihrer Zeit am Neusser Obertor über 80 Ausstellungen möglich gemacht und war als Direktorin für den Sammlungsbereich der Kunst des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts prägend für das Neusser Museum. Zahlreiche Neuerwerbungen im Bereich des Symbolismus gehen auf sie zurück. Zudem wurde unter ihrer Ägide die Sammlung der Farbmalerei begründet und ist heute einer der Schwerpunkte des Museums.

Das filmische Porträt wurde von dem in Neuss ansässigen Medienkünstler Jürgen Hille über Dr. Gisela Götte erstellt.

Am 22. April 2024 wurde das Gemälde „La Promenade. Le square des Batignolles“ von Édouard Vuillard durch die Erb*innen des vormali¬gen Eigentümers Armand Dorville an das Clemens Sels Museum Neuss feierlich übergeben.

Aus diesem Anlass wird die Museumsdirektorin Dr. Uta Husmeier-Schirlitz bei dieser Führung spannendes über die Provenienzforschung und die Geschichte des Gemäldes erzählen.

With the family tours, we would like to offer young visitors and their parents an exciting journey into the world of art. To this end, we have tailored the tour to children and supplemented it with an active craft section.

Durch Reenactment, also Nachstellung, können komplexe historische Sachverhalte Kindern wie Erwachsenen anschaulich vermittelt werden: Zum Internationalen Museumstag übernehmen daher Mitglieder der »Zonser Garnison A. D. 1474 e. V.« das Museum. In historischer Bekleidung und mit allerhand spannenden Informationen ausgerüstet stehen sie in der Sonderausstellung Besucher*innen jeden Alters Rede und Antwort. Eben Geschichte zum Anfassen!

Im Fokus der Ausstellung steht das häufig durch Insekten inspirierte Comic-Universum, insbesondere die Superhelden und Superschurken von Marvel und DC. Gemeinsam mit unserem Kooperationspartner, dem Teilprojekt B02 „Billige Bilder“ des Sonderforschungsbereichs 1472 „Transformationen des Populären“ der Universität Siegen laden wir zu einer ausstellungsbegleitenden Tagung ein.

Mit unserem virtuellen Rundgang durch das Koenen Legionslager tauchst du mittels VR-Brille in die faszinierende Welt der Römer und Römerinnen ein! Unternimm einen Streifzug durch die römische Geschichte und entdecke mit unserer VR-Brille die Geheimnisse der Legionäre!

Die virtuelle Rekonstruktion des Militärlagers haben Martin Stitz (Amt für Liegenschaften und Vermessung Neuss) und Dr. Carl Pause (Clemens Sels Museum Neuss) in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Archäologen Andreas Wegert und dem Archäologischen Institut der Universität zu Köln erarbeitet.

Mit List und Tücke, mit Bratpfannen und heldenhaftem Mut verteidigen sie ihre Stadt. Karl wird immer wütender, da werden auf einmal die Neusser Stadttore lebendig …

Unter Leitung von Janie und Dominik Kaulen lässt die Theater-AG der Görresschule Neuss die packende Geschichte der mittelalterlichen Belagerung auf der Bühne lebendig werden.

We invite young parents to come to the museum with their baby (in the first year of life). After a 40-minute guided tour of the exhibition, there will be an opportunity to talk about what they have seen and make further contacts over a cup of coffee.

Die Projektgruppe »Künstlerischer Tanz/Choreografie« des TANZRAUMs Neuss hat unter der Leitung von Susanne Cistecky und Jennifer Döring und inspiriert von den Skulpturen von Marga Groove-Markovic eine Tanzperformance entwickelt.

Was bewegt die »Schreitende«, den »Liegenden Knaben« und das »Sitzende Mädchen« vor dem Spiegel …? Was veranlasst die Figuren zu ihrer Bewegtheit? Die von der Projektgruppe gefundenen Antworten lassen das Museum zur Bühne werden.

Bespielt werden das Museumsfoyer, das Treppenhaus und der Gartensaal. Alle Besuchenden sind dazu eingeladen die Tänzerinnen durch das Museum zu begleiten und sich ihre ganz eigene Perspektive auf das Geschehende zu wählen.

Die Auftritte finden jeweils um 11:30 Uhr und 15 Uhr statt, dauern 45 Minuten und sind kostenfrei.
