Bert Gerresheim - Extramundi

The exhibition included a selection of pencil drawings and frottages from Bert Gerresheim's "Extramundi" cycle. The entire portfolio was given to the Clemens-Sels-Museum Neuss as a generous donation by the artist. The current sheets revealed a multi-layered and multi-faceted examination of selected themes, ranging from ancient mythology, philosophy and art history to famous artistic personalities such as Francisco de Goya and Max Ernst. The sheets not only captivate with their masterful execution, but also make unique reference to the important collection of the Clemens-Sels-Museum Neuss through their symbolist-surrealist pictorial language.
