Rediscover rescued masterpieces!
Since the water ingress on May 20, 2022, the Clemens Sels Museum Neuss unfortunately had to remain closed.
Therefore, we are now particularly pleased that a partial reopening from the foyer to the 2nd floor will be possible again and cordially invite you to the comeback on Sunday, November 6, 2022. This partial reopening does not yet include the basement with the rooms for the archaeological collection as well as the depot and workshops, nor the museum rooms in the upper gate.
In order to be able to offer visitors an attractive exhibition and event program despite the limited possibilities, the entire museum team is working at full speed on a redesign of the permanent exhibition for the 1st floor. For this new presentation, the color concept of the rooms will be fundamentally revised, while the collection focal points for art: Symbolism, Expressionism, Naive Art and Clemens Sels' Collection will be retained in the respective rooms. In addition, new thematic emphases will be added to provide a broader view of the works.
Digital or hybrid approaches to mediation will be taken up for the new permanent exhibition, so that the aspect of interaction will be significantly strengthened. In the Graphic Cabinet, you will find a small museum cinema in which selected films and sequences will be shown to match the focal points of the permanent collection. Of course, inclusive offerings will continue to be integrated into the new presentation.
