The Clemens Sels Museum Neuss is characterized by the particular diversity of its collection, which covers a broad spectrum of art and cultural history. The art collection occupies a prominent position in this respect. In addition to important paintings from the Middle Ages and the 17th century Dutch, the works of the Nazarenes, the Pre-Raphaelites and the Symbolists in particular form a collection that is unique in Germany.
The Rhenish Expressionists are also represented in the collection with outstanding paintings, graphics and stained glass. In addition, the museum owns an extensive collection of paintings and sculptures by the Naives, who occupy a completely independent position within 20th century art. In the field of contemporary art, color painting forms another focus of the museum's collection. The other areas, which offer insights into prehistory and early history, the historical and economic development of the city of Neuss, and the emergence of regional civic culture, are closed until further notice.
