Along the windows and mirrors

Schwarz-weißer Filmstill mit einem Leuchtkegel auf abstrake Formen

Following the recent opening of the Feld-Haus to contemporary art in addition to its collection of popular prints, the spring exhibition will be devoted to another current artistic position: It will show a video installation by Cologne artist Frauke Dannert (*1979). Dannert studied at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf until 2010 and then at Goldsmiths College in London. In her central medium of paper collage, the artist processes her own photographs or everyday illustrative material from print media and the Internet. By cropping and repeatedly reproducing the motifs, the originals not only lose their visual sharpness, but also their original function. In the work “Along the windows and mirrors” shown in the Feld-Haus, the paper clippings are set in motion cinematically.

Through the medium of paper, Frauke Dannert ties in with the Feld-Haus collection of popular prints and, at the same time, her image worlds correspond thematically with the museum site and its overall concept of architecture and landscape.
