New works by Campendonk's pupil Wilhelm Teuwen
Fortunately, the collection of Wilhelm Teuwen's work at the Clemens Sels Museum Neuss, which is unique in Germany, was once again expanded in 2018 thanks to the extremely generous donation of eight paintings by the artist's heirs. The museum now has a unique collection that encompasses all of the artist's genres.
The last exhibition in the Graphic Cabinet presented the new donation to the public for the first time. Thus, after the large exhibition on the occasion of Teuwen's 100th birthday in 2008 at the Clemens Sels Museum Neuss, and thus after a long time, this exhibition again offered an intimate insight into the artist's oeuvre. The paintings, which revolve around mythological as well as religious themes, were presented together with selected works on paper with comparable motifs. With their formal language characterized by line, they complemented the painterly pictorial inventions of the paintings.
